Heart of the Bayou is a 16 acre mixed-use development designed to retain residents and workers in downtown Houston. The mixed-use development replaces the current Post Office facility with approximately 1,000 housing units, retail, offices, entertainment, and civic buildings. With an emphasis on natural systems, responsive architecture, and local and regional connections, the community will provide both day and nighttime activites for area residents, framed by the Buffalo Bayou’s scenic urban beauty. I worked on the master plan, systems analysis, programming analysis, development massing, and the final layout. The concept was submitted for the 2012 ULI Urban Design Competition.
